CVOCD-X expands the CV.OCD programmable MIDI-to-CV interface. It is a module into which the CV.OCD board fits. The internal CV.OCD board is included; fitted ready to use.
CV.OCD is a device which converts MIDI signals to the control voltage (CV) and trigger/gate signals which are used to control analog synthesizers and gives you four CV outputs and twelve gate outputs which can be assigned to a range of MIDI controllers and events. For a full description of the functionality, please see the CV.OCD product page.
The CVOCD-X adds the following to the CV.OCD:
- 4mm Sockets (For ‘Banana’ plugs) on all CV and gate outputs, plus a ground socket.
- Selectable gate output voltage level (5V, 10V or 15V). There is a voltage selector switch for each group of four gate output sockets (equivalent to using three separate Gate Boost modules to boost the usual 5V gate voltage from the CV.OCD)
- CV limit switch, which prevents any CV output from exceeding 5V for equipment which not tolerant to higher voltages (when the limit switch is off, the usual CV range is 0-8V)
- LED indicators on every output to indicate its state and make activity easy to monitor
- Internal voltage boost converter generates 10V and 15V levels from a 9V supply,
- A power supply is included, with a choice of UK, Europe and North America pin types (Power is a barrel connector with 2.1mm pin and centre negative polarity. Needs to be 9V or 12V DC with a current rating of 500mA or more)
Product dimensions are 250mm x 107mm x 32mm. Weight is 515g. Laser-cut acrylic case secured with bolts. Face plate is PCB material.
MIDI connection is a standard 5-pin DIN socket. A MIDI interface or USB-to-MIDI cable is required for connection to a computer.
Power socket is for a 9VDC centre-negative barrel connector with 2.1mm pin (as used on guitar pedals). Can accept a voltage between 9VDC and 12VDC. Power supply must have a current rating of 500mA or greater. Although CVOCD-X uses less than 100mA when running, a higher current is required when initially powering on.
