Our products include an extensive range of MIDI “plumbing” (such as the CV.OCD MIDI to CV converter, the Banana Split MIDI-thru box and the Orange Squeeze MIDI merger) and creative MIDI control surfaces (like the Arpie MIDI arpeggiator and the LE STRUM chord controller).

All our products are designed here in Brighton. The final assembly, bolting together, testing and packing of our products happens here, done by me and a small gang of friends.

And the name? The first product I sold was a kit to build a mini games console based around an 8 x 8 LED matrix (64 pixels!). I used the name for my shop on Tindie and it has kind of stuck.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Your Privacy

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Where we collect and use your information we’ll do so only as set out in our Privacy Policy.

Shipping

If you are placing an order from outside the United Kingdom you must agree to allow up to 6 weeks for delivery from the shipping date. While most items arrive quickly, customs delays are quite common.

If you are placing an order from inside the United Kingdom you must agree to allow up to 3 weeks for delivery.

If an item has not arrived after these times we can offer a refund or a replacement product provided that you let us know within 10 weeks from dispatch. If a replacement is preferred and the original shipping was untracked, we will ask you for the additional postage costs to upgrade shipping of the replacement by a tracked service.

It is your responsibility to handle any extra steps needed to receive your product (such as collecting an undelivered item from your local post office / booking a redelivery / paying customs duty) within appropriate time windows. If an undamaged item is returned to us due to a missed delivery/failure to pay customs etc. we can re-send it to you (at your expense) or we can process a refund of original order value, less shipping cost.

We will try to mark packages with any special instructions you provide with your order. However, we will not be responsible for problems resulting from our failure to do so, from the instructions not being followed correctly by the delivery courier, or for safety of packages left in ‘safe place’ etc.

Customs

Any customs charges due on your order are your responsibility to pay.

For orders outside the United Kingdom, we are unable to declare your order as a “gift” for customs purposes and it will be labelled as merchandise. Any customs charge due on your order are your responsibility to pay.

Product Support

Once you have started assembling a kit you take responsibility for following the assembly and usage instructions accurately and safely.

If you encounter difficulties assembling one of our kits, we will endeavour to provide the support that you need to complete assembly. We will rely on your co-operation to communicate the information (such as clear photographs, multi-meter readings etc.) we need to be able to diagnose problems and to provide assistance.

If we establish there is a problem with the kit itself we can provide a replacement kit or replacement parts as we deem to be appropriate. Problems must be reported to us within 30 days of receipt of the kit to be eligible and you must follow the returns process outlined below.

In some rare cases a kit may be damaged beyond recovery during assembly by not following the instructions correctly. While we will offer all the help we can, we cannot guarantee success. It is your responsibility to ensure you are competent to follow the assembly before placing an order and have access to the correct tools.

Our pre-built modules are extensively tested before packing and shipping. If you encounter problems within the first 30 days of use of a module we will provide support to resolve or diagnose issues and if we determine that the product itself is faulty we will take it back for a replacement or a refund, as outlined in the returns process below.

Outside this 30 day period, we will aim to provide support you need to work through any problems. Any offer to repair items outside this period is at our discretion and we may ask you to cover costs of any replacement parts and postage.

We are not responsible for any personal injury or damage to equipment etc. that may result from construction or use of our products or kits.

Refunds

If you change your mind about an order, you may cancel it up until 14 days after receipt for a refund. If the product has already been dispatched, you must return it unopened, unused and undamaged. You need to pay the return postage.

We cannot offer refunds for any kit or product that is not returned in original condition. In particular we cannot refund a DIY kit once you’ve started building it (e.g. removed any parts from packing materials, used any type of tool or otherwise marked or modified a part).

Returns Process

For any item being returned to us for any reason you must contact us before sending the item.

Items must be returned using a service that offers a tracking number and a signature on delivery. We will not be able to issue a refund for items that are lost in transit back to us.

If you are returning a product or kit for refund or repair from outside the United Kingdom we must insist that you clearly mark the customs label as “Product returned to vendor for refund” or “Faulty product returned to vendor, no $ value”. If you fail to do so we reserve the right to refuse to take the kit back or to charge you for the resulting customs handling fees.

The source code, design files and some technical descriptions for our products are linked from the product pages on this website. We hope that this is interesting and useful and might help you get started in your own projects or even make your own version of one of our products from scratch (we’d love to see it). You might spot something we got wrong or could have done better (please do let us know!)

We do, however, use a non-commercial licence (Creative Commons BY-NC-SA licence) for this information which means you can’t sell derivative products commercially. We’ve done this to try to help avoid direct cloning and cheap manufacturing of our products by other companies (it has happened)… we have to pay the bills somehow!

However, if you would like to speak about a commercial licence, and you are building upon our work in a genuine way, we will be pleased to talk with you. We’ll always try to be flexible and fair to the little guys (like us!)
